Description

Mrr, finally done!  I couldn't decide which was better, the colored or uncolored version of this picture so hey, why not post both!

Fortitude is one of my naga characters,  To this point he is simply known as a old naga living in a secluded oasis.  What isn't know well is that he used to be a General in a vast army once upon a time.
Back when he was younger he was known as a fierce warrior, fierce and brutal in combat. All naga's in that army were bred for their part, even before being hatched the eggs would be measured and checked constantly to get some idea of the individual that would hatch.  This meant unfortunately getting the egg away from the parent, nagas get very protective, if not considered down right broody of their clutches and young.  Its a dangerous thing to do trying to take those eggs, sadly its common for eggs to get damaged, as well as the collectors, who suffer pretty harshly if their caught by one, if not both the parents, since nagas mate for life.

Fort's egg was taken as soon as it was laid, his mother was an old naga and had reached the end of her brooding life, she only produced Fort's egg, rather large in that last clutch, never having anymore, because of her age she was greatly weakened laying that last egg, making it easy to take it.
From the size of the egg, and from his father's past history as a general as well (Fort was his last offspring as well, he was deceased by the time Fort hatched) he was raised as a General, meant to lead.
Slight problem with that was that Fort had been born with a somewhat empathetic nature, if he hadn't been born in a war like situation like that he probably would never have fought.  Even as a hatchling he had a protective approach towards the other young nagas, particularly the small ones that were hassled by the larger ones, because he was the biggest he could often fend off the bullies in the group for the runts.

Despite this he was forced to bury his base instinct as he grew (its repressed somewhat but still there) and was trained, this brings in the armor above.
All naga's trained for combat were literally raised in their armor, it was adjusted as they grew and new plats added constantly.  Their armor was usually made with the discarded scales of the older fighters, pretty much giving them an extra 'shell' to defend their softer, human like torso.  They liked to match color with color as well, giving the impression that they had grown rock hard scales all over their body.

Fortitude's armor is a little different, his armor was made of the scales of his father who had a slightly different hue then his son.  Because Fort never met the man that armor holds a lot of special meaning to him.  Even when he eventually went rogue and abandoned his troops that armor went with him.
He doesn't wear it now, many years since then, but he still has it.  It's hidden at the bottom of one of the waterways in his oasis.
One of the reasons he won't wear it anymore is because of all the memories attached to it, he did at lot of things leading his troops that weigh down on him heavily.
Also that armor requires a lot of leather to strap on, his scales eat right through the straps, and the edges bite into his skin rather badly, it drives him nuts. >.<

Anyway that's enough info for now, I hope you like these pictures!  I'm rather proud of it considering I've not been in much of a drawing mood the last few days.

As always comments are always welcomed, I hope everyone is doing well, Ciao!!

Y'know maybe a guy who can't see (no pun intended) the danger of carelessly moving his claws (aka pointy-bits) in the general direction of his eyes (aka squishy-bits) has no business being in a position of command. Just saying.
